Kaduna Northwest Nigeria: To curve the cholera outbreak, the lawmaker, representing kaduna south federal constituency, Hon Muktar Ahmed Morovia has partnered with the environmental health officers council of Nigeria to organize a two-day capacity building for small-scale food vendors on hygiene application on food processing from farm to table.

The program was aimed to sensitize food vendors in low-income communities to enhance food hygiene and safety.

The participant, mostly women, was trained by the environmentalist to foster good health conditions that will cease widespread of vibrio cholera and related diseases amidst covid-19 delta variants.

To the development, Dr.Yakubu B Muhammed Registrar of the Environmental Health Officers Registration Council of Nigeria (EHORECON), lamented environmental health issues must be addressed in Nigeria because more than 70% of hospitalized patients are suffering from water-borne diseases such as cholers and typhoid.

While giving a closing remark, the honorable member, Mukhtar Ahmed Morovia said the food processing materials donated were to enhance health practices among the food vendors and tasks the participants to become ambassadors of environmental health by putting into practice, and orienting the general public. 

According to the lawmaker, He has done a lot of infrastructural development in the last two years by building and renovating schools and hospitals within the constituency. therefore he is focusing on human capital development this year.

He also revealed plans to encourage and support our young girls, especially in the ICT because girls’ education is the key to societal development.

Hon Monrovia also charges the general public especially his constituents to enroll in the ongoing online voter registration by the independent electoral commission, as the north recorded low registration.
